Deep Tissue Laser Therapy (Class IV)

Laser therapy is the non-invasive use of laser energy to generate a photochemical response in damaged or dysfunctional tissue. Laser therapy can alleviate pain, reduce inflammation and accelerate recovery from a wide range of acute and chronic clinical conditions. The main goal of treatment for many when treating painful, debilitating conditions is to facilitate improved function and mobility. Laser therapy is a drug-free, surgery-free technique to help make that goal a reality.

What to Expect

When you come into Peak Valley Active Health for Laser Therapy,  the treatment will be administered through either a contact or non-contact hand piece. The contact hand piece is designed to allow our doctors to physically manipulate the tissue while applying the treatment which results in a “laser-massage treatment’.  A laser massage treatment allows the light to penetrate deeper into the tissues.  Laser Therapy must be administered directly to skin as the laser light is not able to penetrate through layered clothing. When the therapy is administered you will feel a sense of warmth.

Effectiveness

Most patients who receive laser therapy see results within 3 to 5 treatments. The laser floods the tissue with photons that energize cells creating increased circulation to the injured area. The laser allows your body to make use of its own healing powers by inducing a series of healing responses. After the treatment your body will start a 12-24 hour process of modulated cellular activity which will lead to a decreased amount of pain and inflammation.
